The National Gwangju Museum
The National Gwangju Museum was opened in December 6th, 1978 to let people know about the traditional culture of Gwangju Jeonnam area. It is a cultural multi complex that preserves and manages about 65,000 relics, studies the traditional culture through 100 scientific researches, let people know about our culture through 70 various exhibitions and customized museum education and be with the local people. As we welcome the 30th year of the opening, we have renovated the exhibition hall to cast light upon the history of Gwangju Jeonnam. We strive to become a cultural base, where people can feel the breath of the long history through the high-class cultural assets that our ancestors left.

The National Gwangju Science Museum
The National Science Museum is the science experience center that opened in November 2013 to represent the Gwangju Honam area, that satisfies the scientific curiosity of the growing children and adolescents and spreads the importance of scientific technology to adults.
It is the third national science museum after Daejeon Metropolitan City and Gwacheon City and has two permanent exhibition halls, planned exhibition halls, children’s hall, planetarium, 3D and 4D exhibition hall and a mobile astronomical observatory.

City Folk Museum
The Gwangju Metropolitan City Folk Museum is a city museum where the folklore and social history of Gwangju Jeonnam area can be seen with a glance. If you look at one of the most important characteristics of the Gwangju Folk Museum, it is one of the few early public museum before the recent museum boom of the local governments.

Gwangju Museum of Art
An art museum located in Unam-Dong, Buk-Gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City. It was established with four basement level floors, two above ground floors and nine exhibition halls (total 2,800m2) and opened on August 1st, 1992. Gwangju Museum of Art, which all local artists and the city government joined together in the ‘pride of art city’ to open the museum, serves as the center of the local arts and formed the basis to establish Gwangju Biennale in 1995.

Namdo Folk Food Museum
When you think about Namdo, what come to your mind are the local dishes, music and the beautiful traditions that have been passed down from the past. In every village there are plenty of local dishes and the legacy continues. This is due to the fact that the basic roots of filial piety still live on and you will not find anywhere in the world like Namdo.

Beauty Museum of Korea
- Our native traditional beauty cultural materials are exhibited
- Reproduced traditional hair models from the ancient times to the modern times are exhibited
- Visitor experience zone for the beauty culture acted out in historical drama on TV and cinema
- Theory and practice field learning center for all students majoring in beauty treatment department from all over the nation, including Gwangju

Chonnam National University Museum
The museum opened in May 1957 on the first floor of Geumhogak (currently the social studies college building site) based on approximately 60 relics such as paintings and calligraphic works, potteries, etc. donated by Dr. Choi Sang-Chae, the first president of the university.

Gwangju National University of Education Museum
The history of education of Korea dating back to the period of the Three States can be seen through various materials and one can realistically experience the reality of education of the period in the place where the elementary school room and village schoolhouse of the 1960’s are reproduced.
